What We Do » Auto Body and Paint » 1985 VW Vanogon
This van came to us after a nasty winter accident. A full size blazer slammed into the passenger side of the van while traveling down the highway. The tires on the van were special ordered and shipped from Europe, and hold to icy roads very well. These tires didn't allow the van to slip very much on impact, which lead to the massive damage on the rear panel.
The owner is a VW enthusiast, and wanted this van to be restored better than original. Along with major damage to the passenger side, there were numerous other dents throughout the van, as well as rust issues. After viewing the van, we decided the best way to repair the major damage was to replace the entire passenger side rear panel.Having a parts vehicle on hand, we cut out the panel needed, and prepared it to replace the damaged panel. Removing the panel that was damaged was no easy task. These panels are spot welded in from the factory, and are not intended to be removed. Installing the new panel in the van had to be done perfectly. All body lines had to match up, and the panel had to be placed correctly for the slider door to shut properly.
As the bodywork came to an end, and panel was installed, it was time to hit the paint booth to bring out all former glory to this campers paradise! Once re-assembled, it was ready to hit the trails, looking like it just came off the show room floor.
